In 1972, BMW wanted to go racing in the European Touring Car Championship. Starting with the E9 platform, BMW’s engineers removed everything not necessary for racing, throwing out soundproofing, power windows, adding Perspex windows, an aluminum hood and thinner steel for the unit body. The car was a success and cemented BMW’s reputation as a maker of the most sporting luxury cars you could buy. This 1972 3.0 CSL is from the first-year production run and one of 500 right-hand drive (1,265 total) models. Presented in a beautiful Tiaga green, this CSL is fresh from a two-year restoration that covered every nut and bolt on the car. The level of detail is astounding both inside and out, with things like original-style speckled carpeting and an extremely clean undercarriage. Possibly one of the best 3.0 CSLs on the market, this car is one for the history books.
