The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been long overdue for a revamp — at nearly 40 years old, the only older platform in the Mercedes stable is the Unimog. The 2019 G-Class has gotten a full redesign, making it a much-improved vehicle on the tarmac, but it’s lost none of its off-road ability. The body-on-frame construction and iconic styling are still there, along with three locking differentials, and more of everything else: Ground clearance, fording ability, and slope climbing. The major rework of the interior makes it a true Mercedes, with a dash-spanning digital display and more front- and rear-legroom, thanks to a longer and wider body. The 2019 G-Class will arrive in the US in late 2018.
